Don't laugh. Before you read this please take a moment to clear your mind of the prejudice and 'OH MY GOD I HAVE TO DEAL WITH WHO!?' of younger people. If you can't read this and consider it without doing that, then sneering will commence beyond the Read More, and you'll never consider anything but your own thought.
Back again. Last time I addressed the Split, and the troubles that our unit has gone through and is experiencing. But I also said it's time to move forward. So today I'm going to address what our unit has been doing and will be doing in the future. This will be more of musings and spewing than coherent and ordered thought. I apologize for the long silence. This blog was originally created for me to share my mind with the rest of the unit. To give a little insight into the working mind of the CO and Command Staff. After my initial posts, however, I couldn't think of anything to write. I realized I made this simply to address those three topics. I've kept trying to think of topics and failed. But now, finally, I've thought of a few. It's come up a couple times to do it, but by the time my schedule had settled enough to actually sit down and write something, it was decided that addressing anything to do with the Split was too late to help, and too fresh to re-open the wound. Since the 'Ask Command Staff' thread was posted, however, I've realized that something does need to be said, and a 'State of the Unit' address needs to be made. Over the next few posts I will be addressing some concerns and giving people insight as to the direction of the unit, and where we go from here. I will not be answering questions in the Ask Command Staff thread, aside from the one that inspired this. WARNING This is a rant, combined with a clarification. It is aimed at specific people, though I don't name names, and they know exactly who they are. WARNING. WARNING. If you like Scout Snipers.... do not click read more. If you think Scout Sniper are a great idea... do not click read more. If you are easily offended... do not click read more. If you think I am pretentious and don't care about what you think.... do not click read more. DISCLAIMER: The content beyond Read More is the feelings of the author, not of Command Staff. Oh here we go again. The crazy guy is talking. Look I'm not that crazy. Sometimes I just like to lay in bed at night, look at the stars, think to my--- Dude you're crazy. Ok. So as promised, here's the 'idea' post this week... Combat Engineers. It's funny how times change. In the old days I would just write something, and to hell with you if you didn't like it, get on my level. But there's that whole 'getting old' thing that changes it all. A half dozen arguments with the entirety of ACE, Infantry, and smatterings of other sections, it starts to make you think about not pissing everyone off all the time. Politics start to enter your mind. So it took me a couple days to settle on what exactly I was going to make my first post on. Getting old sucks. I hate politics. This is my blog! But still not going to piss anyone off... yet. My first three posts are going to be an example of pretty much everything you're going to see here: A clarification, an idea, and finally a rant. We'll save the last two as special treats for later. Today I'm gonna take the time to explain... the Chain of Command. Because this seems to be confusing for too many people. Welcome to the Commander's Blog?
What is this? Well it's basically a Dev Blog, but we're not really developing anything. This will be the thoughts from the head of the CO of the 15th MEU (SOC) Realism Unit that don't really warrant, or would spam, a Command Announcement. This will have ideas, clarifications, insights into unit operation, and even the occasional rant. Comments are, and will be, CLOSED on this blog. This is not a flame war. It will not turn in to one. I will not sit here and answer every little thing, or get into an argument with someone over blog comments. If you need something clarified from an article (though these are seeking to be clarifications themselves so they should be very clear), or maybe want to suggest a specific subject matter, make a post on this topic. Don't get hurt if I don't respond or don't get to it. There are two dozen other things going on as well. -Col Penny MEU CO |
